PRETTYBOBBY is the moniker of Robert Kub, under which he explores visual art, existentialism, sexuality, and abstraction. Kub’s work is informed by his formative years as a closeted Christian, studying theology and grappling with the human experience while being denied full self-expression.

In his current work, paper and pastel are his mediums of choice, representing a counterbalance to the aluminum and glass we carry at all times. Outside of physical media, Kub is inspired by early 2000s computer art in the form of digital collages, combining scanned drawings with screenshots or public images.

Kub studied art history and visual art at Marygrove before taking a sabbatical to intern at Detroit’s MOCAD. He was born in the suburbs of Detroit, MI.
